Crocheting...

I have rediscovered my love of crocheting. I have been off the yarn wagon for some time now, partly thanks to a busy baby and severe tendinitis in my left wrist. But I am back now and have several projects in the works. I get bored with projects after awhile, especially large ones like blankets. That is why I like to have a few going at one time so I can change up the scenery. I have also taken stock of the yarn I have and have a lot of random one skein colors. Therefore I have decided to make newborn hats with my leftover yarns and donate them to the local hospital. I have already contacted the York Hospital and ask if there is a program for donations. But in the meantime I am working on a blanket for Kelly's soon to be baby boy, a bath mat for my bathroom and I hope to make hats with ear flaps for all the older kids of my friends. So far Megan's two have hats, Danielle's son has a hat, Josie has a hat that Grandma made her and I plan to make hats for Kelly's two and Renee's two and one for baby Sam too. Here are some pictures of some of my recent crochet projects.

Party!

Well this past weekend was my 30th birthday party. My actual birthday is Wednesday. I had a great time and really enjoyed having my friends around. I think it was the biggest party I have ever had. Growing up my parties consisted of about 3 other people since June is a big vacation month. My friends were never around on my party days. But we always had a good time since it was such a small group we had the opportunity to go to the movies or do something a little more pricey then the normal big party.

I would like to say thank you to everyone who came and thanks for all the great gardening presents. I know I had fun hope you all did too. Seems like I couldn't spend all the time I wanted with everyone but that is a drawback to having a big party. Everyone will certainly have to come back again for another party/cookout. Thanks again!!! I really had a good time.

Josie and the pussycats

Josie and I were having fun with the cats and their feather on a stick. These were taking on my cell phone so the quality may not be the greatest.

I love this pic

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day! It was great. I am still not used to being the Mom on Mother's Day so when people would ask what I had planned I kinda give the blank look of "what?" It started out great, got to sleep in because Brian snatched up Josie as soon as she started to wake up. Sadly he forgot to tell Friday that I was supposed to sleep in and she decided I should be up with the group too. But I got more sleep than usual.

Then Brian made me breakfast and coffee and the three of us sat outside on our deck and enjoyed the weather. Brian had put together a Josie size picnic table the day before and she loves sitting at it.

Then Brian took Josie with him to go to the grocery store and run a few other errands leaving me home to work in my gardens for the WHOLE day. I got to spend the ENTIRE day outside setting up my gardens and putting up edging and planting seeds and plants and root cuttings. I dumped about 8 bags of dirt and just had a great time alone in my garden. I find gardening to be very relaxing for me. I love it. It lets me just think and be alone even if it is only in my own head.

Then Brian grilled up some stakes, steamed some artichokes and made homemade (my mom's recipe) Mac and Cheese. Now that is how you end a Mother's Day.

Easter

Sorry it has been awhile since I posted but life is always busy. The Grimes family had a great Easter. Josie was very excited by the art themed Easter basket she received from The Bunny and the big Minnie Mouse doll that was sitting next to it.

We spent the holiday at my parent's house. It was kinda weird not staying the Saturday night like the past years but since we are only 45 minutes away now it was easier to drive over and back. The Bullock Clan was there too so it was nice to have the whole family together. We were also celebrating Rebecca's 11th birthday. I can't believe she is 11 already, I remember when she was just a week old.

Since several members of the family, myself in particular, do not care for ham we had rib eye stakes for Easter dinner. They were wonderful! Great job grilling Dad!

Josie napped through the whole dinner. We ate around 3:00 but by 1:30 Josie was falling over tired. She had only slept about 20 mins in the car on the way over and so we put her down for a nap and she didn't get up until it was time for cake.

Speaking of cake, I got to make the bunny cake this year. It was my first year at making the bunny cake and I was worried it would not turn out well. But the finished product looked pretty good. It wasn't pretty under the frosting but it sure tasted good.

Oh I forgot to mention the surprise we found Easter morning. We found a half finished, giant birds nest in our grill!. We saw some straw and grass around the edge of the grill and I noticed some sticking out of the lid so we opened it up to find a big pile of nesting material. Thankfully it wasn't finished and there weren't any eggs. We evicted our avian squatters and left the lid up on the grill for a few days. But let me tell you those birds really want to live in the grill. They keep coming back despite what we do. I plugged the rotisserie hole they were using to get in with Styrofoam and they just picked that away and got back in. So it is back to open lid and lots of noise. Hope they get the point soon.
