Ah Mystic

After much preparation and a 6 hour drive filled with Wiggles music, whining, requests for tissues and traffic we arrived in Mystic around 12:30 am. We were met with chilly air and darkness. When we come north we stay in my grandmother's old house, which is now owned and kept up by my Aunt and Uncle. They recently renovated the house and added a second story. The house looks great! I do feel the odd wisp of sadness when I realize certain aspects of the house are no longer there. I miss the big picture window in the dining area and the breakfast bar but love the new porch and refinished floors. Josie needs to get her footing still on the hardwood. It appears to have less traction then ours at home.

The weather this morning is cool and clear. The sky always seems bluer here. There is a nice breeze off the water and the tide is high.

I have always loved this house with its rambling yard and waterview property. I truly find coming here, watching the water or sitting on the big rock very relaxing. It takes me back to all those summers I spent as a kid fishing from the dock, feeding the ducks and crabbing off the boat. I may not have appreciated it then but I remember it fondly now.
